Do you think the UPSR and PMR should be scrapped?
I have been reading about the possibility of the UPSR (standard 6) and the PMR (Form Three) examinations being scrapped. Why the government is mulling such a move is mind-boggling. If you have school going children, chances are that you will want to benchmark their academic performance with a national-level reference point. In this case, it's the public examinations such as the two as well as the SPM and STPM.
Now the talk is that these scrapped exams will be replaced with school-designed tests. How they are going to implement it, I dont know. But what do you think? Is it such a great idea scrapping UPSR and PMR and allowing self-assessment?
We claim that too much pressure had been put on our children to do well in schools and in performing in public examinations. But isnt that the way it was back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s? Or even 90s?

Mee Kolok at Dapur Sarawak
Kolok Mee is a type of noodle found in Sarawak. It is served for breakfast, lunch or even supper, blanched in water and served in a light sauce with some condiments like shredded chicken or beef. It is similar to the Wantan Mee but Kolok Mee is not drenched in dark soya sauce.
Sarawakian living in Wangsa Maju might want to know that there is a restaurant in Gombak serving Mee Kolok near Diamond Square. This is a halal restaurant operated by a Malay from Sarawak. It is called Dapur Sarawak or Sarawak's Kitchen (picture above). Among stuff found in Sarawak you can get here include the famous three-layer-tea served with apong (or palm) sugar. There is also free Wi-Fi here.

Nasi Lemak Air Panas
If you pass by the Resource Springs Condo in the evenings, look out for the nasi lemak stall beside the bus stop. The nasi lemak biasa goes for RM1 a packet and that with sotong slightly more. His stuff is quite good and the sambal really hot. The chap sells late into the night and if you have a craving after 10, you might want to check him out. His stall is not lit and he depends on the illumination from the street lamp nearby.

Genting Kelang road divider a potential cause of more jams
IF you have been driving along Jalan Genting Kelang near the Pizza Hut junction, you would have seen that a divider has been built from the junction into Jalan Perusahaan until the traffic lights leading into Taman Forlong. The City Hall planners must have thought of this as a short-term measure to curb jams along Genting Kelang in the mornings for traffic heading towards the city because if turning is allowed near Pizza Hut, then traffic would be held up.

City-bound cars make U-turns here.
However, they did not realise that by closing the breaks in the road, cars on Kenny Rogers/Pelangi Condo side of the road wishing to head to the city would have to make a U-turn at the Genting Kelang-Jalan Perusahaan junction. Since the traffic lights there have a habit of turning red too fast, jam is created here. It is only a matter of time when a long bottle neck happens to frustrate everyone.City-bound cars make U-turns here.
The junction near Pizza Hut into the slip road to Air Panas now clear of traffic early in the mornings. Note the divider at right.
