Messy Medan Idaman

These are some of the stalls that are hitching a ride on the supermarket's popularity. They have taken up the pavements. Where are pedestrians supposed to walk?
Uncontrolled hawking activities are turning Medan Idaman into an eyesore. If you pass by Jalan Gombak Batu 5 (Fifth Mile), your eyes will be greeted by these scene of hawker stalls right infront of the Ong Tai Kim supermarket. These have been in existence for as long as the supermarket started operation.And they continue to grow uncrontrollably.
Parking space is also taken up by these hawkers to lay their tables, not to mention the dirt and grime from their cooking littered all over the road. Worse, is they are obstructing traffic along the pavements.
Sidewalks are built for pedestrians to walk. But how did City Hall end up allowing such trading practices? Are the hawkers licensed? If they are, then City Hall is not helping clean up its image of an impartial enforcement agency. Shouldn't there be some form of control over hawking activities?

Jalan Gombak Now More Dangerous

This U Turn is in front of Ong Tai Kim. No traffic lights. Be careful when approaching this stretch when cars may suddenly slow down to turn.

When the road expansion plan came, I thought it would be good. And it should be, since the widened road will translate into less congestions. But if you were to take a drive from the Ong Tai Kim supermarket till Jalan Pahang tunnel, you will see that there are so many U-turns along the way. Some of these U-turns are next traffic lights, hence making them safer, but many are just random turns. With a bigger road and speeding vehicles, one of these days, some nasty accident is going to happen anwaywhere between Batu 5 and Chong Hwa. Lorries, too, which supply goods to the shops on one side of the road had to use the U Turns to return.
Now, they are working on Jalan Pahang. I hope there wont be as many U-turns there as there have been in Gombak.

Fire Razes Shop in Jalan Gombak

A fire broke out at about 6:20am today, razing a shop/several shops in Jalan Gombak opposite the mosque at Batu 3-3/4. Firemen arrived at about 6:40am to bring the fire under control by 7am. These are the photos capture barely moments ago.
