This Padang Produced Many Soccer Stars
The Padang is a hive of activity in the evenings and soccer is still the favourite game. There is now a poorly built basketball at one end which is used by senior citizens to exercise in the mornings.
If you remember Santokh Singh, I am sure you are a football fan. But if you are below 40, chances are that you probably don't know who he is. Well, he is one of the soccer greats and along with him, the famous names such as Towkay Soh Chin Aun, Spiderman Arumugam, and Mokhtar Dahari.
Well, this is the padang in Air Panas, near the girls' school, that produced many soccer greats. In the 70s, there was a remarkable soccer team called Setapak Rangers who was quite a team in the soccer arena. In fact, Santokh Singh's house is directly opposite this padang. Haven't seen Santokh quite a while already. Heard he has moved elsewhere and the house is now rented to another. Anyone got any news about the chap?

I used to play with my friends around Stpk Indah football field and one of the Air Panas' futsal field.
Haven't really play on the big field before.
Wow..I used to study in Setapak High School & passed by this field very often. But I did not know it has produced such legendary football player before.
i'm finding a football club..
and this could be it...
so can i join???
Well, Mikhail, go see if they will accept you.
>> Acura: There are plenty you don't know about Air Panas which I am happy to blog about. Heck, in Wangsa Maju, there is still lots to learn. So, tell your friends about this site. Maybe we can all share what we know about Wangsa Maju - and Air Panas - for the benefit of everyone here.
>>CKK: Mr Chong, am afraid you will have to try harder. Heard from people there, the owners dont need the money. The feng shui is so good that they would not sell. To do so, would be 'suay' and they are happy to have the house still standing, and even abandoned, so that their generations can reap the good benefits. If you are wondering whether this is true or not, well, I am not doubting them. The car park beside the padang is used all year round for religious festivals, so it must add up to the good fengshui thingy!
You'll be glad to know that Santokh Singh still lives in Setapak..A true local!!!
Guess you can't take the boy out of Setapak..
He only lives down the road and so still see him the odd occassion out and about and at the local food stalls..
True tho, had no idea who he was until my father pointed it out..Clearly one of Malaysia's best!!!
Here! Here!
Dear brother and sister,
I am Myanmar who working in Malaysia more than 10 years and I would like to explain about SAMNAK SAMBODHI BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION. Therefore, recently I stayed at Sasanarakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS), Taiping, Perak. I am very close with Ven. U Nandiya Maha Thero.
My monk Ven. U Nandiya is very good heart and compassion to everyone in the world, also I heard when he stayed at Kuala Lumpur Buddhist Temple, he lends donation money to President of Temple (Datuk Yip Kum Fook, MCA Gombak) with amount RM20,000.00 only and he said that money belong to Myanmar society in Malaysia.
On the other hand, my monk said, also many things happened when he stayed there because committees always disturbing, I am very sadly about that matter, why committees are very poor and crooks. Others Temple, people come to Temple to respected Buddha and Monks, also give red packet to monks. Why this Temple, monks must give money to committees, this is opposite.
If anyone receive or read this message, please inform to DATUK YIP KUM FOOK to return that amount to my monk as soon as possible.
