Wangsa Maju Gets High-End Shopping Mall

When Alpha Angle opened many years ago, it cause quite a stir among the community. For once, Wangsa Maju had its own shopping mall, even though it was only 2 storeys. It had a cinema also, which is now occupied by the Jaya Jusco Home Furnishing area. The anchor tenant was Jaya Jusco which now became Jusco Aeon. It also had its fair share of eateries. Then came Giant and Carrefour and soon after, Wangsa mau folk did not need to go to town to shop.

But we desperately needed a high-er end shopping mall and recently, this place called Wangsa Walk provided something Wangsa Maju folk can be proud of - in the likes of CineLeisure or Ikano in Damansara and Kota Damansara areas.

We recently checked out the two-floor Wangsa Walk and found it to be quite impressive, although we were wondering why the floor had to be made slanting and mirror-like in finishing. If it was to give class, we hope the management would ensure safety of shoppers there, especially where a pool of water, which cannot be detected on the mirror finish tiles, could result in a bad fall.

Although all the shops are yet to open, entrepreneurs are not wasting time to book their piece of the economic pie. And interestingly, the management had given a fair mix of shops, too, led by anchor tenant Cold Storage where you could get some quality food within a supermarket.

We are interested in seeing how this place develops. And for your interest, here are some pictures:

Some shops have yet to open. Lucky are those who have booked trading space. Looks like a boom is coming for those who had a space.

Look at the sloping mirror-finish floor. Can you spot a pool of water if there was one?

Mak Datins and such, here is some place to hang out if you are tired of shopping.

Fine architecture but better if made functional as well.

When the TGV will be open? What do you think about the IT section? Can be a Wangsa Maju low yat? Replace the bored pc shop at SS 2?

I have a strong feeling Wangsa Walk is the "ultimate" shopping experience in the vicinity. Very interesting place indeed! If the IT shop can maintain the affordable pricing + more customer buying from them = WM low yat will surely emerge..

It's strategically placed just before the entrance to the future cineplexes. Wangsa Walk will definitely bloom compared to the boring and hot Carre-Four!

Looks like it's catered more for the softer gender cos there ain't any shops selling men's clothes! And what about home furnishing and electrical appliances?

However I look I still sees a complex Pertama in the making. Too small a complex with very few shops or outlet. The choice of tenants currently is less than desirable.

Need more establihed brand to be brought in. The ground level are supposed to be F&B only but look what happen?

I can be sure Wangsa Walk will be popular but will not attained the upper class level. Too bad.

Indeed, Anon, you could be right. On weekends, you see many villagers crowd around the lobbies, not shopping but enjoying the air conditioning. On weekdays, it is empty save for the sales personnels and some sparse crowd at the Popular. One just hopes that this is no Pertama or Campbell shopping complexes in the making. Look at how Sogo suffered from the dilution of its prestige and you may cry for what will happen to Wangsa Walk if the management is not careful in its running. A suburban shopping mall is always at the expense of the kampung mentality and let's hope the management company running it has foresight not to let it become another 3-rate mall.

I was there yesterday, but did not see the cineplexes. I find its a beautiful mall, great design, spacious and with a great tenant mix. Actually some of the tenants are having good business as I went to a salon and have to wait about 20 mins for my manicure session. Some of the cafe place to eat are busy too.
Good place to hang out with friends.

PRO UMNO MCA IS ANTI BUDDHIST IN MALAYSIA...

有关马來西亜,吉隆坡,甲洞帝沙再也 (暹寺) 三宝寺 Samnak Sambodhi Buddhist Association No.19-21 Jalan 38 Taman Desa Jaya, Kepong 52100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
