Moga Punjab, if you love Punjabi food

Moga Punjab opened in June, 2011

Delicious potato prata (aloo pratha) served with mint sauce and mung bean dhall curry. 

Looking for authentic Punjabi food? Check out the Moga Punjab Punjabi eatery which has just opened at Platinum Walk area, behind the Columbia Hospital, adjacent to the Ayamas outlet. It serves a variety of Punjabi bread (pratha) with fillings such as potatoes and cauliflower. Since the restaurant is new, the owners said that they are still trying to organise stuff. We will be going there again for a better write-up. If you have been there, post your comments below, ya?

Mai, Rojak Mail!

Mail Mee Rebus & Nasi Kandar Penang

IF you love rojak and mee rebus, check out Mail’s at the Melawati Hawker Centre, opposite the Achik printing services (see picture below). Here is another shop that rivals Hamid’s Mee Rebus situated just several shops downstream. Mail’s cheaper too and the mee rebus gravy is thick and nice, with distinctive shrimp flavours. How much? Just a little over RM3.00 a plate.

Mobile Police @ Desa Setapak

The mobile police station has moved to the corner of the roundabout, adjacent to SSL pan mee shop. It used to be near the roundabout, opposite the TOTO shop. This is a better arrangement - and frees up more parking space for others to park. 

Perhaps, the police can also do something about people who dont know how to park and double park. Find them, and fine them please!

What on Earth Is This?

Okay, out of curiosity, have you spotted this stencilled graffiti on newly painted walls in Desa Setapak? Well, saw this one near the HP shop near the LRT station. Cheese massage? Hope you don't get cheesed off.

Pontian Wanton Restaurant

There's a new kid on the block but we have yet to try it. Outdoing all other businesses, this one decided to go at it loud and clear and here you can see all the glamour in the banner. If you have tried it, then perhaps you might want to pen us a line or two below.

Where is DeliFrance?

Shoe City now occupies the spot where DeliFrance used to be.

The first DeliFrance outlet in Wangsa Maju started at the Alpha Angle many years ago. It had enjoyed good business allowing diners to have a snack and rest their feet when shopping at the complex. The outlet sits on the second floor, overlooking the concourse below where sales are held or when festive promos are the order of the day. Imagine our surprise when we visited it recently to grab a croissant - instead we were greeted by a new outlet in its place - Shoe City. Talk about having shoe in your mouth! Anybody knew where DeliFrance went?

Massage Parlours @ Platinum

The Platinum Walk area will probably has the highest concentration per sq km of massage parlours. There are at least three within a shout's distance. These health centres have been here since Platinum Walk started. Below are three of those in and around Platinum Walk:

Social Emergency - Who Do You Call?

If you hear of someone being abused or any social misdoings, who do you call? According to the signboard, 15999 - Talian Nur. Keep the number handy although you won't miss the giant signboard at the junction from Jalan Perusahaan to Selangor Pewter bypass. Who knows when it will be removed. Isn't it better when the signboards are imprinted on all the Projek Perumahan Rakyat (Public Housing Schemes) around the area which have the highest population density?

The traffic lights at the Air Panas-Semarak short cut is giving problems again. If you notice from this picture, you will see tyhe cars backed up from the junction till Setapak Jaya bridge. Will someone do something about it? The MP perhaps?

Okay, how many ways can you prepare capati? Well, apparently more than one. Get creative and try this one at Wangsa Walk. We have yet to try it but judging from the crowd, it is quite popular. It's about time the Indians market their traditional favourite as fast food. Not only nasi lemak or satay can you make into fast food but capati too if you know how.

Okay, has anyone tried this sushi outlet at Wangsa Walk yet? We were there last week and noticed it. It wasn't pack, so we were wary. Usually good food outlets are packed to the brim. But this is not a new player - if we are not mistaken, it first opened at the Ampang Point many years ago and the menu is quite extensive. So, should we try it or not?

Rawang Fish - Rampai Business Park

The rice package

A new fish dish outlet has just opened at the Rampai Business Park. It's called Rawang Fish. It occupies one of the many shops on the same row at the Canton Kitchen Chinese Restaurant. We decided to check out the place and found the prices quite okay. The fish fish for which it is famous is not much out of the ordinary except that the fish does not have that heavy 'earth smell'. Prices are okay. You can have a satisfying lunch for RM25 plus for two persons, inclusive of drinks.

MYMydin Now Open

The spices corner is well stocked and possibly better than that of Carrefour, even.

There is one more outlet for shopping convenience for those staying in Danau Kota, Setapak Garden and Taman Ibu Kota. MyMydin has opened an outlet near the Platinum block of condos and from the look of the crowd, it is quite popular.

Although range of goods is somewhat limited, this outlet has a good stock of spices. The greens are also quite cheap. The only problem is the lack of parking and one dreads to think of what will happen should there be a sale.

Rest of the stuff are so-so only

Drained Out

This is a new drain cover put across some road shoulders in Wangsa Melawati area. They are made of worthless material - some kind of plastic. Why they are in place is because some idiots are stealing the metallic ones and selling them to junkyards. And the authorities have no brains to go catch them. Hence these - as additional expenditure - are used now. However, whether they are strong enough or not to sustain a person's weaight or will it deteriorate, only time will tell. Meanwhile, let's hope the thieves will not get to them I heard there's demand for fibre plastic...

Old Volks Making Its Round

This is a modified Volkswagen van spotted along Taman Seri Rampai area. From the plate no, it would have been an antique, no less. There are plenty of old vehicles plying the Wangsa Maju area. Some have been kept in good condition.

Don't Use This Slip Road During Peak Hours

The junction where the slip-road joins Jalan Pahang, in front of the Sikh Temple. Traffic is diverted left into Jalan Pahang, towards Galeria. 

IF you are in Sentul and would like to use the slip-road that links Sentul to Jalan Pahang on weekdays, make sure you do not go there after office hours. This is because a traffic policeman will be station to seal off the junction and you will have to go to Setapak and make a U-turn to get to the city again. This is to help free traffic along Jalan Pahang move faster to Setapak.

Pick A Number And Wait Your Turn

The stall sells all sorts of rice and dishes.

If there is anything Malaysians need to be educated on, then it must be to wait in queue. At this nasi stall in Taman Melawati on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, you had better get your number before being served. The makcik sells nasi dagang, nasi kerabu and nasi minyak - all from Kelantan. The rice come with various dishes and those who did not get a number will not be entertained. Anyone tried this stall? Verdict please!
